Persian contemporary artist, Soraya Davanlou was born in Tehran, Iran on January 1957. At the age of 13, the young Soraya started painting as a hobby. She did not focus on any particular style but she became acquainted with the principles and methods of painting through her attendance of art schools in Tehran In 1989, Soraya decided to make a big decision by moving to the United States. It was then she made up her mind to dedicate all of her time into her paintings.

Her paintings range from realism to impressionism and one would say that she is engaged with both modernism and tradition. Her paintings exemplify the reflections of her deepest emotions and love, which she carries for nature and its beautiful surroundings. Soraya’s hard work has paid off, enabling her to participate in many exhibitions and shows.

She would also receive recognitions for her artwork, such as being the recipient of the first prize of the prestigious “Moaaser Museum” in Tehran. She also received a first prize for her paintings from the Artistic club Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently, Soraya resides and works in Atlanta, continuing to paint not only for her own enjoyment, but also for the enjoyment of others.
