Choosing a Frame

The function of the frame is to protect and support the artwork; while holding all of the components together for viewing. The artwork itself can tell you a lot about what kind of frame will look best.

Frames have both a physical weight (size) and visual weight (appearance) that are both important when considering a frame. A frame that is physically too small will not be able to hold the weight of the framing components and a frame that is not visually balanced will draw more attention to frame than the artwork.

Floater frames

When you have art on canvas and want to be able to see all of the edges a floater frame would be a good choice.

Shadow box frames

Are frames that are deep enough to hold three dimensional objects.
