In the summer of 1970 Lee Hendrix resigned his position selling aircraft for Lockheed in Marietta, sold his house and moved to Athens, Georgia for the purpose of starting his own picture frame store. After securing a lease at 553 Prince Avenue, Mr. Hendrix opened the doors of The House of 10,000 Picture Frames on August 1,1970. This was the first full service picture frame business in Athens.

• In 1985 -Pam bought the business from her father, Lee Hendrix and her husband, Bruce Barker joined her in the business.
• In 1987 -the business was incorporated
• In 1988 -The Barker's built a second location was built, The House of 10,000 Frames, on Cedar Shoals Drive.
• In 1994 -The Barker's purchased a competing shop Frameworks located at 351 E. Clayton Street
• In 1995 -The Barker's purchased a wholesale picture framing company, Framer's Supply Company, in Bowman, Georgia and moved it to Athens.
• In 1996 -The Barker's started Clayton Street Gallery above the Frameworks location in downtown Athens
• In 1997 -The Barker's opened a second Frameworks location in the Butler's Crossing shopping center in Oconee County.
• In 1998 -The Barker's entered the e-commerce business with the launch of it's website
• In 1999 -The Barker's changed the corporate name to the Athens Art Group (which includes all stores).
• In 2001 -The Barker's purchased the assets of The Java Rocket a neighborhood coffee shop that had gone out of business and reopened it under the new name of Cups Coffee Cafe.
• In 2002 -The Barker's opened a new store The Dawg Pen that specializes in University of Georgia merchandise.
• In 2003 -The Barker's changed the name and concept of it's first store The House of 10,000 Frames to Prince Avenue Gallery
